Council Launches ‘Christmas In Tralee’ Programme.
Tralee Chamber in partnership with Kerry County Council is thrilled to announce the return of ‘Christmas in Tralee’, which promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
Colette O’Connor, CEO of Tralee Chamber, shared her excitement for the season ahead:
“We’re beyond excited to unveil our biggest and brightest Christmas programme yet. This year, we’re adding even more magic to our festive celebrations with something for everyone—new events, returning favourites, and a warm welcome for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re here for the markets, the parades, or the magical experiences, we invite everyone to celebrate Christmas in Tralee.”
The Christmas spirit kicks off on Saturday, November 30th with Kerry County Council’s Festive Flair in The Square, an exciting event to officially launch Christmas in Tralee 2024. The evening will be filled with live music, family-friendly entertainment, and a special appearance from Santa Claus himself, who will join the Mayor of Tralee, Mikey Sheehy, to switch on the town’s sparkling Christmas lights.
Mayor of Tralee, Cllr. Mikey Sheehy also expressed his excitement: “Christmas is a time to come together as a community, and we have a fantastic lineup of festive events for everyone to enjoy. I am thrilled to join Santa Claus on November 30th to light up the town and officially kick off Christmas in Tralee 2024. The Christmas lights bring such warmth and magic to Tralee, and I encourage everyone to come along, enjoy the festivities, and support our local businesses throughout the season.”
From December 6th to 8th, the Island of Geese will host a special three-day Festive Evening Market, sponsored by Garvey’s Supervalu. Enjoy a magical market atmosphere with Christmas-themed stalls, seasonal food and drink, and live performances. Browse unique gifts, savour holiday treats, and meet festive characters. Covered seating and music will ensure a cosy experience for all.
This year, Santa’s Magical Fantasy Parade, sponsored by Sean Murphy Electrical and The Rose Hotel, brings an exciting new twist with a night-time parade on Saturday, December 14th at 7:00 pm and afternoon parade on Sunday, December 15th at 3.00 pm. Join the streets party to see Santa, Disney fairytale princesses, giant polar bears, dancing toy soldiers, and more.
On December 21st at 7 pm, the Island of Geese will host The Sounds of Christmas, a heartwarming musical performance showcasing local talent singing beloved carols and festive songs.

Throughout the month of December, all are invited to participate in ‘Visit Tralee – Shop Local Win Local,’ supported by local retailers and hospitality businesses. From Friday, December 6, 2024, to Sunday, January 5, 2025, take advantage of free parking at Tralee Public Car Parks between 9:30am and 2:00pm daily. Please note that a maximum stay of 2 hours applies.
The celebrations will conclude with a family-friendly New Year’s Eve Street Party on December 31st on Denny Street. Beginning at 6.00 pm, guests can dance into the New Year with a firework display to light up the Tralee Sky at 7.00 pm to welcome 2025
