Tralee Chamber Alliance would like to commend the work of An Garda Síochána over the past few days throughout Féile Trá Lí.

It has been one of the most peaceful festivals in recent times with an exceptionally low number of arrests recorded. Members of An Garda Síochána along with working throughout the festival also participated in family events bringing a smile to many children over the weekend in the daytime activities, showing the importance of a community’s relationship with it’s local law enforcement.

Tralee Garda Station was afforded additional resources for the festival which meant a visible garda presence around the town and festival locations at all times. It shows the value in having strong Garda numbers in an urban area the size of Tralee does contribute to reduced crime and we strongly urge the Department of Justice and our politicians to highlight this as a priority for the town.

“Through the See Something Say Something campaign, Tralee Chamber has a long association with Tralee Gardaí who are currently represented by Inspector Donal Horgan on the Chamber Steering Group. This relationship forms the core of community based projects over the course of each year and is a key part of the current structure of the Chamber. ” – Colette O’Connor CEO Tralee Chamber Alliance
