Teanga agus Cultúr na hÉireann a cheiliúradh i dTrá Lí leis an tionscnamh ‘Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn’

Tá ríméad ar Chomhlachas Tráchtála Thrá Lí, i gcomhpháirtíocht le Comhar Creidmheasa Cara, an tionscnamh “Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn” a chur i láthair mar chuid ríthábhachtach den fhéile Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Is mór againn ár stádas mar Bhaile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta agus ceapaimid go bhfuil sé thar a bheith tábhachtach grá a chothú don teanga agus a húsáid a chur chun cinn i measc an aosa óig. Is fís lárnach an tionscnaimh seo an Ghaelainn a neadú i saol laethúil dhaoine óga Thrá Lí agus is gairm é ar an nglúin óg a gcuid oidhreachta a ghlacadh chucu agus an Ghaelainn a fhí isteach ina gcaidreamh laethúil, go háirithe nuair a bhíonn siad i mbun gnó sna siopaí agus gnólachtaí áitiúla atá ag glacadh páirte sa tionscnamh. Ní cúrsaí teanga amháin atá i gceist leis an tionscnamh; tá féiniúlacht, oidhreacht agus todhchaí an chultúir i dTrá Lí fite fuaite ann leis.

Cad é agus conas a oibreoidh sé?

An aidhm atá leis an tionscnamh “Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn” is ea daltaí bunscoile i dTrá Lí a spreagadh chun a gcuid Gaelainne a labhairt sa bhaile mór. Cuireann gach aon fhocal Gaelainne, idir ‘Dia dhuit!’ agus comhrá iomlán, borradh agus beocht faoinár n-oidhreacht teanga. Mar aitheantas ar a gcuid iarrachtaí, bronnfar dearbháin agus greamáin ar na daltaí a labhraíonn Gaelainn – ábhar mórtais ar a gcuid oibre chun an teanga a choimeád beo inár mbaile mór.

Ach, tá níos mó i gceist leis na dearbháin seo ná ábhar cuimhneacháin! Is faoi na scoileanna éagsúla atá sé cinneadh a dhéanamh fé mar a n-úsáidfear na dearbháin seo. Mar shampla, má bhailíonn rang éigin 50 dearbhán, b’fhéidir go bhfaighidíspas obair bhaile. Is féidir le scoileanna a bheith chomh cruthaitheach agus is mian leo fhéinigh ó thaobh aitheantas a thabhairt ar iarrachtaí agus díograis na ndaltaí an Ghaelainn a labhairt sa phobal.

Leis an tionscnamh “Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn,” tá cuireadh á thabhairt againn do phobal mór Thrá Lí páirt a ghlacadh san aistear iontach seo. Tagaimis le chéile chun an Ghaelainn a labhairt, a cheiliúradh, agus a choimeád beo, rud a threiseoidh stádas mórtasach Thrá Lí mar Bhaile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta agus a chinnteoidh go mairfidh ár gcultúr bríomhar beomhar do na glúnta amach romhainn.

Celebrating Irish Language and Culture in Tralee with “Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn”

Tralee Chamber Alliance, in partnership with Cara Credit Union, is excited to introduce “‘Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn’” (Shop with Irish), a cornerstone initiative of the Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations.

As a town that embraces its status as an Bhaile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta , we believe it’s vital to instil the love and use of Irish from a young age. At the core of “Siopa le Gaeilge” lies a vision to embed the Irish language into the daily lives of Tralee’s youth. This initiative is a call to our younger generation to embrace their heritage, to weave the Irish language into their everyday interactions, especially when they engage with participating local shops and businesses. This initiative is not just about language; it’s about identity, heritage, and the future of Irish culture in our town.

What is it and how does it work?

‘Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn’” encourages primary-aged students in the Tralee and wider North Kerry area to converse in Irish – ‘as Gaeilge’. Each word spoken in Irish, from a simple ‘Dia dhuit!’ to a full conversation, is a step towards revitalising our linguistic heritage. In recognition of their efforts, students will be awarded paper tokens and stickers of participation – symbols of honour for their contribution to keeping Irish alive in our town. Pupils can then bring their tokens into school and when a set number agreed by the school is reached, classes will receive a “Homework Pass”

These tokens are more than just mementos! They symbolise entry into a competition with prizes generously provided to the school and students by Cara Credit Union.

Siobhán Donnelly, Marketing Manager of Cara Credit Union, “We are delighted to sponsor this initiative to help promote the use of the Irish language in our community. As a credit union, we value our local culture and heritage and feel this initiative is a fun way to get us all using a cúpla focal.”Through “‘Ag Siopadóireacht le Gaelainn’,”

Anne Looney, Chair of Tralee Chamber Alliance Education Group “We invite the entire community to join us in this enriching journey. Let us come together to speak, celebrate, and live the Irish language, reinforcing Tralee’s proud status as an Irish”

Tralee Chamber Alliance and Cara Credit Union are proud to bring this initiative to life.

Join us in making Irish a living language in our community.
