AQUA DOME Tralee has reported a satisfactory financial performance for 2025, despite profits being reduced by significant repairs, maintenance and investment in essential plant and facilities.
The trade, business and assets of Tralee Waterworld plc were transferred to a Company Limited by Guarantee in late 2024 and the latest financial results cover the new company’s trading performance to 31 December 2025.
Chairman of the Board, Brian Durran, said: “The Aqua Dome has been operating for more than 33 years, and continued investment is essential to maintain and enhance the facilities for the local community and visitors to Kerry.
“While profits were lower in 2025 because of the significant expenditure incurred, the business remains in a positive position.
“Trading during July was satisfactory despite the exceptionally fine weather, and the Board is optimistic that the company will remain profitable in 2026, however, increasing overhead costs remain a concern.”
During 2025, the Aqua Dome completed the replacement of its air-handling units and water-filtration system at a cost of €865,000. Grant funding of €315,000 was secured through the Community Recognition Programme towards the project.
Further improvements included the complete renovation of the public and changing-area bathrooms, the replacement of locker mechanisms and the extensive refurbishment of Aqua Golf.
The latter reopened in July following an investment which will bring the total expenditure on these projects to approximately €500,000, generously supported by €200,000 from the LEADER Programme.
Brian Durran thanked his fellow directors for their commitment to the governance and stewardship of the company and paid particular tribute to the Aqua Dome’s management and staff.
“Many of our team have been with us since the Aqua Dome opened in 1993 and their professionalism, loyalty and contribution remain central to the continued success of this wonderful community facility,” he said.
Aqua Dome Tralee is open every day, from 10am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 7pm at weekends and Bank Holidays.
