Tralee Chamber and Chambers Ireland today (15 June) welcomed progress in the formation of a new Government and the publication of a Programme for Government – Click here for the Full Draft of the: Programme for Government

Speaking this afternoon, Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland; Ian Talbot said:

“The measures included in the new Programme will need to be assessed in greater detail but the focus on town centres, balanced regional development and infrastructure, particularly public transport and housing, are welcome. These issues were the main priorities of our member chambers in the run-up to the February election and continue to be our focus as we plan for the post Covid-19 recovery.”

“With the ongoing Covid-19 crisis and the increasingly likely prospect of a hard Brexit at the end of this year, it has never been more necessary that we have a Government in place with the ability to legislate and make critical decisions. We look forward to a successful outcome of the approval processes now commenced.”

Chief Executive of Tralee Chamber, Ken Tobin said: “Part of the draft programme will see the Government announce a Stimulus plan to restart the Economy. This stimulus plan is not due to be announced until July, and we continue to advocate with the incoming Government to prioritise supports in the forthcoming ‘Recovery Fund’ to the business sectors most impacted by the Covid-19 crisis”
